ProcessView+ for the Future Design MCT4

The MCT4 is the one supported controller that is not a Watlow. It comes from Future Design Controls, it has its own profile model, and ProcessView+ gives it a dedicated profile editor rather than bending the Watlow one to fit. Everything downstream of the controller — the logging, the reports, the compliance record — is identical to every other chamber on your network.

Nothing is withheld. ProcessView+ reads the controller type at startup and shows only what that controller exposes — so these menus do not appear rather than appearing and failing.

A different profile model, and its own editor

Three of the four supported controllers share one profile editor. The MCT4 gets its own.

That is not cosmetic. An MCT4 profile is not a Watlow profile with different labels — the step model differs, and ramp and dwell units are configurable on the MCT4 in a way they are not elsewhere. A ramp expressed in minutes on one chamber and in hours on another is the sort of difference that produces a profile which downloads cleanly and then runs for the wrong length of time, so the editor is built around the MCT4’s own model rather than translating into it.

The off-line editor follows the same split: choose MCT4 when authoring a profile with no controller connected and you get the MCT4 editor, not a Watlow one with MCT4 written on it.

Mixed networks are the normal case

You do not need a separate installation for a different manufacturer. One ProcessView+ station handles up to 25 controllers, and they do not have to be the same make — an MCT4 chamber and a Watlow chamber sit side by side in the same Network View, log into the same database, appear in the same run-comparison overlays, and produce the same QA reports.

This is the practical argument for the MCT4 page: if part of your equipment is Future Design and part is Watlow, that is not two problems. The controller type changes what the setup menus offer; it changes nothing about the record that comes out.

What an MCT4 does not get

The MCT4 is a control-side integration rather than a configuration-side one. Autotune, PID Sets, analog inputs, alarms 5–8, open-loop detection and variables are all unavailable — the software reads the controller type at startup and shows only what that controller exposes.

Alarms 1–4 are available, as is the full compliance layer. Nothing about the reporting, surveying or signing is reduced on an MCT4; the differences are entirely in what can be configured on the controller itself from the PC.

Limit control

The MCT4 carries its own limit-controller configuration, which ProcessView+ reads as part of the chamber’s setup. Where a chamber uses the MCT4’s limit function as its over-temperature protection, that state is visible alongside the control loops rather than being a separate thing to go and look at.
